Art Room Rules
Dear Annapolis High School students and families,
Thank you for visiting our art room website! On this page, I wish to share with you general information about our art room. We follow the conduct and safety rules stated by our school district and the ones displayed in our classroom.
The art curriculum has been aligned with the state content standards to provide the necessary tools for students to achieve their grade level expectations. I will see every student every other day and these are some of the themes and topics to be discussed:
• Elements of art: line, shape, color, value, texture, form and space
• Principles of design: contrast, proportion, pattern, movement, rhythm, emphasis and unity
• Art in other cultures. • Photography key concepts (Photo I, II & III)
• Drawing, and Painting Techniques with an introduction to 3D forms. (Foundations of Studio Art)
Regardless of which class they are part of, students will explore these concepts to enhance their knowledge of art and give them a structure and safe environment where their creativity blossoms. It is through these processes that students will learn to communicate ideas and concepts using visual imagery that in turn will enrich their overall learning experience. Great emphasis will be put on developing their creativity during art class and integrating other core subjects such as history in our projects.
The grading procedure will be consistent with the established rules of Anne Arundel County Public Schools using assessment tools such as teacher observations, demonstrations, art critiques, process exercises, oral presentations, and final projects (product grades).
I look forward to meeting each of you during this coming school year!
Best regards,
Mrs. Torres-Pagán
